Lilac sugar
Ingredients:
1/2 Cup dried lilac flowers
1 Cup granulated sugar
Directions:
If you’re lucky enough to have a lilac bush, harvest about 1/2 cup of flowers and rinse them well in a bowl filled with cold water. The dirty bits should float down to the bottom. After rinsing, let them dry on a paper towel.
In a sterilized jar, layer the sugar and the lilac flowers so they are evenly distributed.
Seal the top and put the jar into a cool cabinet for about 3 weeks. Every few days, shake the jar.
When the flowers are dried in the sugar, it’s time to use! Feel free to sift out the blossoms, or put the sugar mixture into a food processor to incorporate entirely.
