Lilac sugar

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 Cup dried lilac flowers

  • 1 Cup granulated sugar

Directions:

  • If you’re lucky enough to have a lilac bush, harvest about 1/2 cup of flowers and rinse them well in a bowl filled with cold water. The dirty bits should float down to the bottom. After rinsing, let them dry on a paper towel.

  • In a sterilized jar, layer the sugar and the lilac flowers so they are evenly distributed.

  • Seal the top and put the jar into a cool cabinet for about 3 weeks. Every few days, shake the jar.

  • When the flowers are dried in the sugar, it’s time to use! Feel free to sift out the blossoms, or put the sugar mixture into a food processor to incorporate entirely.
